When I was asked to help create a Web Developer Program at Broome Community College I was honored. It was an opportunity to use my experience and educational training that I could not pass up. However, it was when I was asked to teach some of the classes, that I realized one of my goals. I hadn’t taught for several years and I looked forward to returning to the field of education. I am currently responsible for the continuing development of the Web Developer Program at Broome Community College. In addition to this responsibility, I have also created curriculum for several new classes. I also continue to consult with the Business Information Technology Department on issues of future technology and visioneering the Web Developer Program.

Web Program Manager/Senior Web Designer/Creative
Director: Lockheed Martin
, Owego, NY, 8/96 - 2004

As senior web design and Web Program Manager at Lockheed Martin I have several roles to fill. These roles include designer, systems specialist, technology planner, team lead and strategic planner. When I was first hired in the summer of 1996, my responsibilities included running the 50 plus trade shows our company attended each year. Through this position I designed trade show booths, graphics, video media and collateral materials for each show. In addition to the trade shows, I was also responsible for maintaining and upgrading
our department’s 27 computers, 4 servers, 12 printers and 3 scanners. My current position primarily involves web design and development, team leadership and strategic technology planning. This specifically includes the majority of design for our company’s Internet and Intranet web pages, application interface designs for web based applications, and strategic planning for Lockheed Martin Systems Integration Internet/Intranet directions. Creative direction and team leadership round out my job responsibilities.

General Manager/Art Director/Multimedia Specialist:
Spectrum Photo
, Binghamton, NY, 1/94 - 8/96

At Spectrum Photo, my primary focus was to increase the level of technology within the business; specifically for digital graphics and graphic design. My first year led to the installation of a new high-speed network and a Postscript based imaging server, as well as the acquisition and setup of Broome County’s first large inkjet
output device. Calibration of all department scanners, monitors, printers and film recorders was also under my supervision. As my position expanded, I managed the graphic department’s creative direction and the traditional photo department. Additionally, I was responsible for personnel, acted as liaison for the company’s Florida based sales force and advised on budgetary planning issues to ensure the successful continuation of the company.

Graphic Designer/Multimedia Specialist:
Chroma Copy
, Santa Clara, CA, 6/92 - 12/94

Chroma Copy was my first employer in large media computer graphics. I was hired to raise the level of graphic design within the Computer Graphics Department. Because Chroma Copy had a large client base in the “Silicon Valley”, my designs were used by national and international companies such as IBM, Intel, Levi, Goldstar, and AVL. This position allowed me to expand my technical knowledge of computers, which led to being responsible for maintenance of the company’s 15 Macintosh and IBM computers.

Multimedia Production Coordinator/Graphic Artist:
Avtex Research Corp
., Campbell, CA, 1/91 - 5/92

After attending an exceptional Avtex demonstration of Intel’s DVI (Digital Video Interactive) technology, I convinced the company’s president, Mark Bunzel, to hire me as an intern in June 1990. Fortunately his acceptance gave me the necessary “real world” education to complement my college credentials and portfolio. After just 6 months, my successful internship led to full-time employment. Because DVI technology was new, I also became an expert in systems configuration and trouble shooting. That gained expertise usually required me to accompany the presentation to the final destination for setup. These destinations included Washington D.C., Boston, Germany and Japan among others.

Instructor: Computer Graphic Design and
Multimedia University of California at Santa Cruz
, CA, 6/90 - 6/94

Through Mark Bunzel at Avtex Research, I was introduced to the University of California as a potential instructor in June of 1990. After teaching several team classes with Mark, I was asked to teach my own classes. I taught several extension classes in multimedia. These included Multimedia Production Techniques, Macromedia Director, Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe Premiere and a four-day intensive workshop on Multimedia Creation. The four-day workshop was a wonderful experience. The classes were held at UC Santa Cruz and the students worked from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. everyday. Classes were held in the morning from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. with the rest of the time set aside for labs to allow the students to create the final project, which was due at the end of the class.

Instructor: Computer Graphic Design and
Desktop Publishing Masters Institute
, San Jose, CA, 6/90 - 4/92

My first teaching job was at Masters Institute. I taught Adobe Illustrator, Adobe PageMaker and Macromedia Director. Masters Institute is a technical college that offers several two-year degree programs. I taught a two-year degree program in Graphic Design. Through the course of my teaching, I discovered that the students had received very little exposure to design theory by the time they graduated. As a result, I rewrote the curriculum for my three classes to also include design theory.
